PicText™ Version 2 has been RELEASED

June 29th, 2008 by Dan

PicText Ads Version 2

The new version of our PicText™ Ads have been released throughout the network! The one week BETA release was very successful with a number of publishers giving it a go. Statistics we gathered proved the CTR of the new version of PicText™ was more than double and the fill rate was much higher with more relevant ads and more variety.

If you are using our PicText™ Ads you will now see they have been upgraded to the new version - spotted by the loading icon before the ads load.
There are a couple of technical considerations which you may require you to make some changes, these are below:

  • The ad code must not be altered apart from changing styles or variables. DO NOT separate the styles from the javascript area, they need to be together.
  • The ad code MUST be placed between the <BODY> tags on your page.
  • You must have height and width properties set in your styles. The top style in the ad code has this, for example “.at_table_style_19875 { width:200px;  height:50px; background-color: #0000CC; padding: 3px; }”.

Thanks to everyone that helped with the testing, it was much appreciated. If anyone does discover anything strange or has any questions please get in contact with us!

Advertiser Spotlight: Pimpin® MMORPG

December 18th, 2007 by Paul

The mass multiplayer online gaming industry is a competitive market with new games entering the industry each week competing for the attention of online gamers.

Pimpin® has been online since late 2004 and has established itself as a very popular role playing game with two versions, Pimpin® Down Under and Pimpin® Euro. The corner stone to their success has been from careful and selective advertising, ensuring each dollar spent gave the best return, and in this market, rewards come in the form of player signups.

AdToll gives the guys over at Pimpin® the tools to optimise their campaigns, and they are seeing some impressive results. All campaigns have been monitored using Goal Tracking, a fairly new feature allowing advertisers to track conversions for each ad campaign. This effectively helps advertisers choose which campaigns they drop, and which they choose to invest more of their dollars in. It just makes sense!

Pimpin® already had a library of proven ad media, all that was needed was a bit of experimentation and tweaking. Now, all of their campaigns return very healthy conversions for their dollar.

The table below summarises typical campaigns:

Publisher Site Ad Format Conversion
Rate
Cost Per
Conversion
MMOsite Vertical banner - 120×240 6.94% $0.46
Games Advertbox Full banner - 468×60 4.62% $0.43
Charazay Basketball Manager Skyscraper - 120×600 4.59% $0.37
Charazay Basketball Manager Skyscraper - 120×600 4.52% $0.38
Oz Games 200 Skyscraper - 120×600 4.11% $0.28
Charazay Basketball Manager Skyscraper - 120×600 3.77% $0.21
Charazay Basketball Manager Skyscraper - 120×600 2.36% $0.26
MMOsite Skyscraper - 120×600 2.10% $0.58
Google Gameroom Video Ad - 300×250 1.70% $0.04
MMOsite Vertical banner - 120×240 1.43% $0.19

There are definitely some tricks in finding good ad placements. Scouting the directory for under performing sites works very well, and can bring some extreme short to medium term results. High ad view, low click ad groups are more than likely the result of poorly targeted ads. If you have a targeted ad for the spot, BOOK IT!

Pimpin® Down Under and Pimpin® Euro also appear in the directory offering text, banner and video ads, so please check them out!

Advertiser Spotlight: Focused - The Webmasters Forum

September 2nd, 2007 by Dan

Internet advertising can be quite scary for new players looking to market their products. With all the market skepticism and talk of fraud it can scare off new advertisers looking to invest some of their hard earned dollar.

For this reason we like to promote our Advertisers who have had positive experiences using our service. This is our first Advertiser Spotlight whereby we are featuring Focused.org, a relatively new Webmaster community. The owner, Sohan found AdToll and was impressed with the perception of our service so gave it a go… below you will find what Sohan had to say about AdToll.

Focused.org - The Webmasters Forum

Hey, my name is Sohan Tanna. I’m from England in the UK, and run many websites.

One of the websites I run is Focused.org. Focused is an free online webmasters community which covers a vast range of topics, and has a decent sized user base. My mission was to increase the user base and get more active members. Over the months, I have tried many major and small advertising companies and none were getting me quality results at a good price.

A few weeks ago, I was reading up on DigitalPoint forums, another forum I visit often, and I found AdToll.com and I thought to myself, I’ve heard that somewhere. So I clicked the link, and it led me to the site.

The first thing I noticed was a high alexa rank and a quality design, so I figured the site could be trusted.

Then I checked the RON (Run of network) pricing, and was shocked at their rates! $50 for over 2,400 clicks! That was a good rate for guaranteed clicks, so I immediately made a campaign.

A few days later about 20-40% of all clicks started to convert into new regular posting members! That meant I was paying around 10 cents for a new member!

I was amazed, and I told all my friends and family about the network – who were very interested to start their own campaigns!

A few days later, I noticed Adtoll allowed me to sell ads on my site for a fixed price per week. This looked like a good opportunity for my users to advertise on my site.

My forum has changing content, and Adsense is contextual, so it made sense to give it a go. I use the new Default Ad feature, so that it shows Adsense ads, and if a customer buys an ad it shows their ad. It made a win - win situation, and will increase my revenue a lot!
